HOW THE SHED WORKS: ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL MOVABLE BUILDINGS IN NEW YORKThe Shed is a cultural centre in Hudson Yards by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with Rockwell Group.Its main feature is a huge movable shell. In about five minutes it glides along rails onto the plaza and creates an enclosed hall called The McCourt.The shell frame is steel, clad in lightweight translucent ETFE panels that made the whole structure significantly lighter.#inspiration

A quick note on how sublayers work in the new Rhino nodes ↓A sublayer cannot simply be passed along with the name of the parent layer.Model Layer only takes the layer name, while sublayers have to be set separately through the Content / patch node.The screenshot shows this setup: the layer is created on its own, and the structure information is passed through the content.A small thing, but without it the layer hierarchy does not behave the way you expect.#PBworkflow

REAL LOVE BY ALEXANDER MILOVTwo monumental steel figures sit side by side, holding hands and looking in the same direction. Inside them, their inner children are finally free. At night the children glow, and the outer cages dissolve into darkness.The work closes the series that began in 2015, when Milov's sculpture LOVE became one of the most recognised artworks at Burning Man.Our team handled the engineering side of the project. HEDONIST SCULPTURE, BALIHow we built a huge sculpture from a 3D scan made on a regular iPad.At the core of the project is the face of a real woman, Yulia Malakhova.It was scanned on an iPad, and from that scan we built a 3D model and refined the form with the artist Alexander Milov.We split the surface into elements, calculated each one, and checked how light would pass through it.A team in Indonesia produced and assembled the sculpture from our drawings.Today it stands outside the Hedonist restaurant in Uluwatu, Bali.#PBcase #pbParametric Box | Parametric Architecture

How to stop Rhino from staying on top of RevitBy default, Rhino.Inside.Revit can keep the Rhino window on top of Revit, which can get in the way while you work.You can turn it off here: Rhino.Inside.Revit → Options → General → uncheck “Keep UI always on top”After that, restart Revit, the setting only takes effect once Revit is restarted.#PBworkflow #plugin

Automatic ghdata BackupA tool for automatically saving versions of ghdata in Grasshopper.It consists of two Python nodes: 1. the first tracks the path to the ghdata file;2. the second watches for changes and saves a copy to a separate folder with the date and time.You can limit how often it saves, so it doesn’t create unnecessary versions.This way, earlier versions of ghdata stay available even after the main file is overwritten.The file is attached in the comments below ↓#PBworkflow #pluginParametric Box | Parametric Architecture

This light installation is valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. But what makes it so valuable?At its core is the ancient Chinese concept of Qi 气: the life energy that constantly moves through people and space.We modeled that movement in Grasshopper and gave it a form.The installation is made of 677 metal elements. AntiFreeze: a useful Bedrock feature for GrasshopperWhen Grasshopper gets stuck in an endless solution, you usually have to restart Rhino.Bedrock has AntiFreeze: it automatically stops the solution after a set timeout and hands control back to Grasshopper.We set ours to 60 seconds. Parametric Box Team Tools ◽️ Rhino.InsideIn interior projects, some elements are easier to build in Rhino.The interior then needs to move into the working environment for documentation.We use Rhino.Inside for this.It connects Rhino and Revit. How we model complex facades 🔳You cannot edit every element by hand when working with facades.The base geometry is built in Rhino.The logic is set up in Grasshopper: the step, the angle, the height, the rotation, and the fabrication limits.After that, the facade can be changed without rebuilding the whole model.One edit in the system updates the whole geometry.Next, the data can move into Revit, Tekla, or preparation for production.#PBworkflow
