165 - Giving Zakah for Jihad in the Path of Allah and Seeking Knowledge - Sheikh Ibn 'Uthayminوقوله تعالى: ﴿في سبيل الله﴾ And His saying, the Most High: “In the cause of Allāh."يشمل إعطاء الزكاة للمجاهدين أنفسهم، This includes giving zakāh to those fight for Allāh’s cause with their lives,وشراء الأسلحة لهم، and buying arms for them.فشراء الأسلحة من الزكاة جائز من أجل الجهاد في سبيل الله. Thus, buying arms with zakāh for the purpose of jihād in the cause of Allah is allowed.قال أهل العلم: ومن ذلك أن يتفرّغ شخص لطلب العلم، The people of knowledge said: This also includes a person dedicating himself to seeking knowledge,قادر على التكسّب، while being capable of earning a living,Rabbaniyeen ربانيين

A Warning Against taking Islamic Knowledge from Artificial Intelligence - Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Tahiriالحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن ولاه، وبعد: All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his Companions, and those who follow him. To proceed:فأحذر كل مسلم ومسلمة من أخذ العلم وأخذ المعلومات من الذكاء الاصطناعي، I warn every Muslim man and woman against acquiring knowledge and information from artificial intelligence.وذلك لأن هذا الذكاء الاصطناعي عبارة عن آلة، This is because artificial intelligence is merely a machine.قد يخلط الحابل بالنابل، It may confuse matters entirely.يخلط القول الصحيح بالقول الضعيف، It may mix the correct saying with the weak saying.وقد لا يعرف مصدر المعلومات الصحيحة بدقة، It may not accurately identify the source of correct information.Rabbaniyeen ربانيين

Ruling of Giving Zakah to Someone then it Became Clear He is Not Entitled to it - Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeenالإنسان يتحرز، يتحرز، A person should be cautious, he should be cautious,وهو إذا اتقى الله ما استطاع، ثم تبين بعد أن الذي أخذ الزكاة ليس أهلاً للزكاة فإن ذمته تبرأ، If he has taqwā of Allah as much as he can, later it becomes clear to him that the one who took the Zakāh is not of it's people (i.e., those eligible for zakah), he is not held responsible for it.وهذه من نعمة الله. يعني لو أعطيت الإنسان تظن أنه من أهل الزكاة ثم تبين أنه مو من أهل الزكاة This is from the blessings of Allah. Meaning if you gave (your Zakāh) to a person thinking him to be eligible for zakāh, then it becomes clear that he isn't,وأنت يوم تعطيه يغلب على ظنك أنه مستحق فلا شيء عليك، وزكاتك مقبولة. and you had given him predominantly thinking that he is deserving, then there is nothing upon you, your zakāh isRabbaniyeen ربانيين

يعني لو ذهبت أنت لتوفي صار فيه غضابة عليه If you pay on his behalf, it may embarrass him.لكن إذا أعطيته هو ليوفي But if you give him to repay himself,فهذا لا شك أستر له وأحسن Then this is undoubtedly more private and better.Rabbaniyeen ربانيين

163 – If we want to pay off the debt of a debtor, do we give it to the creditor or the debtor? – Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeenهل يجوز أن يذهب الإنسان إلى الطالب الذي له الدين ويقول له هذا الطلب الذي لك على فلان خذه وينمي من الزكاة؟ Is it permissible for a person to go to the creditor (the one owed money) and say to him, “This debt you have upon so-and-so, take it and consider it paid from the zakat”?الجواب نعم يجوز وليس بشرط أن تعطي الغارم ليعطي الدائن، مو شرط The answer is yes, it is permissible, and it is not a condition that you must give it to the debtor so that he gives it to the creditor. That is not required.يعني لو ذهبت إلى الدائن من أول الأمر وقلت يا فلان أنا بلغني أنك تطلب فلان 10 آلاف ريال Meaning, if you went to the creditor from the beginning and said, “O so-and-so, I heard that you are owed 10,000 riyals by so-and-so,”قال نعم، وثبت هذا، أقول فضل هذه 10 آلاف ريال And he repliRabbaniyeen ربانيين

162 - Types of Debtors to Whom Zakat is Given - Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeenأما قوله والغارمين As for His statement: “and those in debt (al-ghārimīn),”فالغارم هو الذييكون في ذمته دين لا يستطيع وفائه the debtor (al-ghārim) is the one who has a liability upon him, a debt he is unable to repay,أو يكون في ذمته دين لمصلحة عامة وإن كان يستطيع وفائه or he has a debt upon him for a public interest, even if he is able to repay it. ولهذا قال العلماء For this reason, the scholars said:إن الغرم نوعان النوع الأول الغارم لغيره والثاني الغارم لنفسه Debt is of two types: the first is the debtor on behalf of others, and the second is the debtor for himself.يعني الغارم لغيره هو الذي يغرم مالا لإصلاح ذات البين As for the debtor on behalf of others, he is the one who incurs a financial liability to reconcile between people.مثل أن يكون بين قبيلتين نزاع ومشاجرة، مخاصمة، معاداة، بغضاءRabbaniyeen ربانيين

Tonight is the night most hoped to be Laylat al-Qadr. Do not waste this night. Do not indulge in ḥarām. Stand before Allah in your ṣalāh and prolong your standing before Him.
