A Happy Life Is a Life of Knowledge and ActionShaykh Zayd ibn Muḥammad ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:“Indeed, among the greatest forms of goodness is seeking knowledge and spreading it. There is no good in a life of ignorance, for the happy life is the life of knowledge and action.Both must come together in every morally responsible person, male and female. Knowledge comes before action, and combining the two is the methodology of those upon whom Allah has bestowed His favour: the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous.If either one of the two is absent, a person is in tremendous danger. A person may possess knowledge yet fail to act upon it, and in that case he resembles a people whom Allah cursed in His decisive Revelation—the Jews—whom Allah blessed with knowledge, but they were ungrateful for that blessing. The Great Virtue of Fasting Three Days Every MonthShaykh Zayd ibn Muḥammad ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:“Fasting three days from every month contains tremendous virtue, because it is equivalent to fasting for the entire year, as Allah, the Exalted, said:‘Whoever comes with a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof.’And indeed, it was a precious and valuable advice from al-Muṣṭafā ﷺ to Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), when he said:‘My beloved companion ﷺ advised me with three things which I will never abandon: that I should not sleep except after praying Witr, that I should not leave the two rakʿahs of Ḍuḥā, for it is the prayer of the oft-repentant, and that I should fast three days from every month.’This precious advice was not specific to that noble Companion. The Meaning of Allah’s Statement: “Indeed, the Patient Will Be Given Their Reward Without Measure”Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:The third verse is the statement of Allah, the Most High:﴿إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ﴾ “Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure.” [Sūrah al-Zumar: 10]“The patient will be given in full” means: the patient will be given their reward, meaning their recompense.As for His statement:﴿بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ﴾ “Without measure,”this is because righteous deeds are multiplied: a good deed is rewarded tenfold, up to seven hundred times, and even many times beyond that.As for patience, however, its multiplication comes without measure from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.Abu Zakariyya Ahmed Al-Hudaydi

Seek Reward for What You Spend on Your Family, Your Children, and YourselfShaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:Then he ﷺ said:“You will never spend anything seeking thereby the Face of Allah except that you will be rewarded for it, even what you place in the mouth of your wife.”His statement, “You will never spend anything,” means: you will never spend any wealth—whether dirhams, dinars, clothing, furnishings, food, or anything else—seeking thereby the Face of Allah, except that you will be rewarded for it.The point of evidence here is his statement:“Seeking thereby the Face of Allah,”meaning that you intend by it the Face of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. Whoever Is Steadfast Upon the Straight Path Here Will Be Made Firm Upon the Ṣirāṭ in the HereafterShaykh Zayd ibn Muḥammad Hādī al-Madkhalī, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:“The Ṣirāṭ is divided into two types: a tangible Ṣirāṭ and an intangible Ṣirāṭ.As for the intangible Ṣirāṭ, it is the upright religion of Allah in its entirety and in all of its details.As for the tangible Ṣirāṭ, it is the bridge that will be erected over the back of Hellfire. The creation will cross it on the Day of Resurrection according to their deeds. The Sanctity of the Ḥaram: Even Intending Evil Carries a Severe Warning!Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz (may Allah have mercy upon him) said:“The one who commits ilḥād (evil) within the Ḥaram is the sinner and the disbeliever. So whoever intends therein ilḥād through wrongdoing is threatened with a painful punishment.For this reason, Allah said:﴿ وَمَنْ يُرِدْ فِيهِ ﴾ ‘And whoever intends therein…’The word ‘intends’ carries the meaning of intending and deliberately seeking something.
