Who Should Be Consulted Regarding Jihad?Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah said:والواجب أن يعتبر في أمور الجهاد برأي أهل الدين الصحيح الذين لهم خبرة بما عليه أهل الدنيا، دون أهل الدنيا الذين يغلب عليهم النظر في ظاهر الدين فلا يؤخذ برأيهم، ولا برأي أهل الدين الذين لا خبرة لهم في الدنيا."The obligation is that matters concerning jihad should be decided according to the opinion of people of sound religion who have experience and knowledge of worldly affairs. The opinions of worldly people, who tend to look only at the outward aspects of religion, should not be relied upon. Purifying the RanksIndeed, throughout history, the people of falsehood have wanted to misguide people and corrupt places of goodness. They want to prevent the people of the Sunnah from spreading the truth. When they find a place where there is a community upon pure Salafiyyah, where the Qur’an and Sunnah are studied and enjoining good and forbidding evil takes place, they seek to enter it, corrupt the beliefs and ideas of its people, and cause disorder within it.For this reason, the Salafi Imams strive to purify the ranks in order to protect their children and youth, while continuing to call people to the truth and to goodness.Here are some examples:1. Advertising paid courses inside the masjidThe following question was asked to the Lajnah Ad-Dā'imah:Many masjids in America consist of a prayer hall and side rooms rooms attached to them. Is it permissible to buy and sell in those rooms for the benefit of the masjid? Is it permissible to buy and sell in the hall designated for prayer, or to advertise goods and services in it?They replied, “It is not permissible to buy and sell goods, nor to advertise them in the hall designated for prayer if it is part of the masjid. The Prophet ﷺ said: “If you see someone buying or selling in the masjid, say to him: 'Lā Arbaḥa llāhu Tijārataka (May Allāh not make your trading profitable)!' Are the Means of Da‘wah Restricted to Those Prescribed by the Shariah?Here is a question: Are the means of calling to Allah, the Most High, restricted to those prescribed by the Shariah, or are they open to personal reasoning and judgement? In other words, for example, are we allowed to use football as a means and method of attracting young people and drawing them towards the call to Allah, the Most High? Likewise, for example, can we organise meals to feed them and offer them tea with the aim of attracting them, and other such means?Sheikh Albani rahimahullah: The answer is that we do not consider it permissible to adopt these things as means of calling to Allah. This is because at least some of them are forms of entertainment. Clarification Regarding Shaykh Fawzān's stance on Imām Al-AlbānīDuring a private sitting with Shaykh Daghash al-‘Ajmi on Wednesday, 13 Rabī‘ al-Awwal 1448 AH (26 August 2026), we asked him for some advice regarding the issue of al-‘udhr bil-jahl (the excuse of ignorance).After clarifying the matter, he was also asked about Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān’s statement in which he described Shaykh al-Albāni as a Murji’.
