Shaykh Muḥammad Muwaffaq al-al-Murābiʿ relates that the great Ḥanafī jurist, al-Ḥaṣkafī, mentioned that Abū ʿAlī al-Daqqāq said: I took this ṭarīqah (of taṣawwuf) from Abū al-Qāsim al-Naṣrabādhī. Abū al-Qāsim said, that he took it from al-Shiblī, who took it from Sirrī al-Saqaṭī; he took it from Maʿrūf al-Karkhī; and he took it from Dāwūd al-Ṭāʾī. Dāwūd al-Ṭāʾī took both ʿilm (knowledge) and the ṭarīqah of taṣawwuf from Abū Ḥanīfah.All of them acknowledged the virtue, excellence, and greatness of al-Imām Abū Ḥanīfah.

The Imām of Ahl al-Sunnah, the Shaykh al-Islām, Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf an-Nawawī, Quddisa Sirrahu, is a man whose heart had been wholly given to the pursuit of sacred knowledge and the seeking of Allāh’s pleasure.It is related of him that for 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. So immersed was he in the pursuit of knowledge, so consumed was he by the study of the Dīn, that when sleep overcame him, he would fall asleep sitting, surrounded by his books. Today, we reached out to a well-known niqābī sister on TikTok who had many months’ worth of publicly posted videos containing highly indecent and explicit content. We sent her a private message, and in the end, she deleted all of those videos, some of which had received hundreds of thousands of likes.Why do we mention this? We do not even understand ourselves why our message would have made such a difference, especially since there were probably hundreds of people who had already written to her. But then it occurred to us: perhaps every single one of them had simply told her that she was a kāfira and that she would end up in Jahannam, and so on.Perhaps this is one of the greatest lessons: calling people towards what is right is not merely about telling them that something is ḥarām. It is reported that Imām al-Aʿẓam Abū Ḥanīfah would keep a special set of clothing specifically for the night prayer (qiyām al-layl).It consisted of a qamīṣ, ʿimāmah, ridāʾ, and sarāwīl, with a total value of 1,500 dirhams. Kuffār companies are creating games, apps, and social media platforms that give strangers direct access to children. Platforms such as Roblox, Snapchat, Ome, and others can expose kids to people they don’t know and to online environments they are not equipped to navigate safely. Parents should think very carefully before allowing children to use these platforms.Children should not even have social media at all, and they don’t need smartphones either. If a child needs a phone, an old-school device that can simply make and receive calls is more than enough. A basic Nokia can provide communication without opening the door to the endless world of social media, strangers, and online distractions. A man must learn to master his emotions, not be mastered by them. And not everyone who asks you to be vulnerable has earned access to your deepest weaknesses. What is shared in trust can, during a heated argument, sometimes be turned into ammunition against you.Your wife should be your refuge, not your emotional dumping ground. A man can be vulnerable without being fragile. He can feel deeply without being ruled by his emotions. He can cry without losing his dignity.But he must also know when to compose himself, carry the weight, and handle what life puts on his shoulders. Feel deeply. Stay disciplined. When a man enters a marriage, he is often told by the wife that a healthy relationship requires complete emotional transparency. He is encouraged to share every fear, every insecurity, every frustration, every weakness, and he is told that a “good” husband should be completely vulnerable with his wife. But should he really?There is a difference between emotional honesty and emotional weakness. A man should be able to open up to his wife. But he should also have the strength and discipline to control himself, carry his burdens and handle pressure without letting every emotion consume him.Grieving a loved one is not weakness. Crying over genuine tragedy is not weakness. But allowing minor frustrations, stress or inconvenience to break you down is not something to glorify as “vulnerability.”Clarifying Light
