Cabinet photo of the Royal Mining Engineering Jubilee Exhibition of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1887 which is better known as the Newcastle Exhibition of 1887. It lasted from May to October 1887 & attracted 2 million visitors. Only the cast iron band stand at Exhibition Park remains today.

De Marco ice cream shop Chapel Market, Islington, N1. By the 1950s and 1960s, the family-run shop—operated by the Terenzio-De Marco family—became a major social hub and focal point for local teenagers and families shopping in the bustling market. The shop was especially legendary for its homemade lemon ice cream, apple fritters, and ice cream floats served right from the shop window. The family ran the shop alongside related locations, including another well-known branch on Junction Road in Archway. The Chapel Market shop finally closed its doors in 1986, following a tragic car accident involving one of the co-running brothers near Hendon junction.

Vaux the early daysThe original Vaux Brewery was founded in Sunderland in 1837 (though some historical accounts note roots or an earlier family connection starting around 1806) by Cuthbert Vaux. The historic brewery operated for 162 years before closing its doors on July 2, 1999, and the name was later revived as a modern microbrewery in 2019

Local and national celebrity 'Bimbo' the monkey on the wire at Chessington Zoo taken by my wife in 1967 escaped from a crate at B.O.A.C Cargo warehouse London Airport in August 1966 and evaded capture for 204 days, eventually being netted by staff in March 1967. My late father in law worked at B.O.A.C. at the time, said it used to come down from the roof and pinch their lunch boxes.
