Celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with residents at Teck Ghee Lantern Night yesterday. It was a lively evening, with families and friends coming together for the lantern procession, activities and performances. The haze was not too bad and we were fortunate to have good weather. The world around us is changing rapidly. There are also developments at home that we should pay attention to. I took the opportunity to update my Teck Ghee team over dinner last night, and also to thank them for their sterling service.I rely on my team and our partners to look after our residents and the neighbourhood. Their dedication and spirit of service makes all the difference. Spent Sunday morning with Ang Mo Kio-Hougang residents! Met residents at the last stretch of GO Connect 2026. They were enjoying the walk, exploring the neighbourhood and making new friends along the way. After the walk, we celebrated Ci Yuan Day. Since 2015, Ci Yuan CC has been a place where residents come together. I hope that as Ci Yuan continues to grow, we can keep strengthening neighbourly bonds and build not just a kinder Ang Mo Kio–Hougang, but also a more vibrant Singapore. go.gov.sg/cyd26

I strongly support PM Lawrence Wong’s decision to accept the Salary Review Committee’s recommendations and to adjust political salaries. This salary adjustment is a necessary strategic move to enable Singapore to continue fielding the strongest possible leadership team. Had the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich culture and history of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.One of the most important of the Silk Road cities, Samarkand was a meeting point not only for the exchange of goods, but also of cultures and ideas. I visited Registan Square and the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, explored Siyob Bazaar and its local produce and crafts, and learnt more about the legacy of Imam al-Bukhari at his memorial complex. go.gov.sg/e09kls

Did some #jalanjalan in between my engagements in Astana, Kazakhstan. Took some time to explore the city in the cool evening weather. Am on the way home! I visited Singapore’s Honorary Consulate in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Our Honorary Consul, Mr Talgat Chinikeyev showed me around the office and shared more about his work. In Uzbekistan, we are setting up an Honorary Consulate in Tashkent. I visited the office that will be used by our incoming Honorary Consul, Mr Zafar Khashimov. Had an insightful visit to the Islamic Civilization Center yesterday. The collection of ancient artefacts and cultural exhibits offered a look at Central Asia’s role in Islamic civilisation, while also supporting interfaith and intercultural dialogue. go.gov.sg/xd9eou

I also witnessed the signing of a Joint Statement, formalising our intention to launch negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement. Had a good meeting with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
