    — Everyday Phrasal Verbs Six phrasal verbs, explained properly.give up = to quit trying. Works alone ("Don't give up") or with an object you can split ("I gave it up" / "I gave up sugar").figure out = to solve or finally understand something. Splittable: "figure it out," never "figure out it."look forward to = to feel excited about something coming.
