Reflection before the daily interactionsSome of the wise people said, “The days are three types: Yesterday is like a moral lesson, so it remains as an admonition and a lesson for you. Today is like a friend who gives you [good] advice. You did not approach it, rather it came to you. It was hidden from you for a prolonged period and will depart quickly, so get hold of it [by doing good]. Who is Boycotted?As for the one who calls to his innovation (bid’ah) after being informed of it and informed of his opposition to the Sunnah (with proofs), yet he still argues for it and calls to it — then this one is abandoned and not greeted.Examples: those who stand on pulpits (or online) and call to takfeer, protests and khurooj against the Muslim rulers; or those who call to seeking help from the inhabitants of the graves; or call to the creed of wahdatul-wujood (the unity of existence); or those who revile the Companions; or they visit soothsayers, fortunetellers, celebrate the Mawlid, etc.As for the general people of innovation, who are blind followers and ignorant, unaware of the Religion and Sunnah (which is most of the Ummah today), they are not treated with abandonment and boycotting, nor are greetings withheld from them. Reflection before beginning the day's workAnother day begins by the permission of our Lord, but we do not know who will reach the end of it, who will see the day after, or how many days we have left from our lifespans.Within this short lifespan, relationships change, either for the better or for the worse. There were those whose companionship during childhood seemed as though it would last forever. Then, suddenly, circumstances, under the Qadaa and Qadr of Allah, change, and you find yourself with completely different people who share little with you culturally. Yet the brotherhood upon the Sunnah suffices, while the permissible cultural norms are shared and appreciated.Perhaps one of the greatest blessings of the day is going to a workplace where there is no backstabbing or flattery, but only at-Tanaasuh and at-Ta'aawun. Reflection before bedtime: Bittersweet feelings after leaving the company of the lovers of truthAmong the most bittersweet feelings is to witness lovers of truth discussing robustly, not due to any animosity, ambiguity, or difference about the truth, but due to a strong desire to safeguard each other from harm.This one says, “Let’s do it,” and that one says, “Let’s wait.” That one says, “Up to you, but I am waiting,” and the other says, “Up to you, but I am going.”The sensible person does not enter into the discussion of these two types of people, except to benefit from their wisdom and the reasons behind their stances, regardless of where he inclines. Reflection before bedtimeYou are always welcome when you have Dalil.If it is friendship, we have lost many close and intimate friends over the past 30 years because of Dalil. If it is flattery, unprincipled compromise, affinity, or shared interests, we have lost many friends over the last 30 years by running away from these traps.By Allah, not in the twinkling of an eye has it been our effort or understanding that saved us to this day. Rather, it has been solely due to the mercy of Allah.And among the things Allah has blessed us with—before and after being guided to the Sunnah—is complete indifference to loneliness and the fear of abandonment.
