[Why Did Allāh Create the Heavens and the Earth in Six Days?]He could have created them in an instant:﴿إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ﴾.The scholars have given profound reasons for why He created them in stages:• To show the angels and subsequent creatures a marvel each creation day. Each day brought something the angels and every witness would find momentous, moving them to praise and thank Him.¹• To honor Ādam and his descendants. Preparing their home with such care before they existed raised Ādam's standing in the angels' eyes.²• To display His wisdom alongside His power. Creating instantly shows power, and building step by step shows wisdom. "Be, and it is" shows the first, and the six days show the second.³• To teach us deliberateness. Allah's Messenger ﷺ said:«حِجَابُهُ النُّورُ، لَوْ كَشَفَهُ لَأَحْرَقَتْ سُبُحَاتُ وَجْهِهِ مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ بَصَرُهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ»"His veil is light. If He were to unveil it, the splendor of His Face would burn whatever His sight reaches from His creation." [Muslim, no. 364] ——— Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) also said:«فَإِذَا كَانَتْ سُبُحَاتُ وَجْهِهِ الْأَعْلَى لَا يَقُومُ لَهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ، وَلَوْ كَشَفَ حِجَابَ النُّورِ عَنْ تِلْكَ السُّبُحَاتِ لَاحْتَرَقَ الْعَالَمُ الْعُلْوِيُّ وَالسُّفْلِيُّ، فَمَا الظَّنُّ بِجَلَالِ ذَلِكَ الْوَجْهِ الْكَرِيمِ وَعَظَمَتِهِ وَكِبْرِيَائِهِ وَكَمَالِهِ وَجَلَالِهِ؟!»"If the splendor of His most exalted Face cannot be withstood by any of His creation, such that if He lifted the veil of light from this splendor it would burn the entire upper and lower realms, then what does that suggest about the majesty of that noble Face, itsUmar Quinn

The Veils of Light and the Secret of Moral AccountabilityFrom Returning to EdenAbove the seven heavens is the Kursī, and above the Kursī is the Throne. After creating the heavens and the earth, Allah rose over His Throne and veiled Himself from His creation with veils of light. These veils are a matter of the unseen, and reflecting on them should fill the heart with awe of Allah. No creature could withstand the splendor of His Face, yet He veiled Himself from us in this world so that we could believe in Him without seeing Him. We see the signs of His greatness in His creation and hear it in all of His revelation, and He asks us to believe. This is the secret of taklīf (سر التكليف), Allah's charging His servants with responsibility for belief and obedience. It is why the first praise He gives the people of taqwā is:﴿الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ﴾ {Those who believe in theUmar Quinn

[An Amazing Glorification of Allah by an Early Scholar from the Salaf]Ḥassān ibn ʿAṭiyyah (d. after 120 AH) (رحمه الله) said: «مِن حِلمِكَ وعِلمِكَ ورِفقِكَ سَترُكَ ما شِئتَ مِن خَلقِك، ولولا ذلك لم يَستُرْكَ شيء. ومِن حِلمِكَ ورِفقِكَ وعِلمِكَ وَسِعَكَ ما شِئتَ مِن خَلقِك، ولولا ذلك لم يَسَعْكَ شيء. ومِن حِلمِكَ وعِلمِكَ ورِفقِكَ حَمْلُكَ ما شِئتَ مِن خَلقِك، ولولا ذلك لم يُطِقْ حَمْلَكَ شيء» "It is from Your forbearance, Your knowledge, and Your gentleness¹ that whatever You willed of Your creation screens You; were it not for that, nothing could screen You.
