Public Health Hackathon 2025 was a success – thank you to everyone involved! bioinf.institute/hack2025During just 48 hours, 18 teams solved real-world problems in bioinformatics, sociology, and biostatistics. Public Health Hackathon 2025 has finally begun! bioinf.institute/hack2025This morning, we welcomed participants and launched the event with a talk by Nikita Vaulin on the role of machine learning in bioinformatics. Yury Barbitoff, Evgeny Bakin, and Dmitry Serebrennikov introduced the main hackathon tracks and presented the projects, while the organizers shared the rules and judging criteria. The IBRE Bioinformatics Club is launching a new seminar series focused on the role of AI in bioinformatics! Program and registration: bioinf.institute/bioinfoclubThis year, we’ll explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in computational biology and bioinformatics. The first seminar is scheduled for August 5, 2025 at 18:00 CET, and is dedicated to AI applications in the analysis of genetic variation. During the meeting, we will try to answer two key questions:🔵Сan we trust large language models (LLMs) to accurately interpret the results of genetic tests or large-scale genomic research? 🔵 Would there be a need for a bioinformatician in performing routine genetic analysis?The main goal of this IBRE Bioinformatics Club series is to promote an open discussion of how deep learning and AI methods are transforming
