Who we are
Gram News is an independent publication about Telegram and the TON blockchain. We are not affiliated with Telegram, the TON Foundation, or the projects we write about, and we take no money for a story, a place in the catalogue, or a rating. Anything published at someone’s request or for payment would be labelled as advertising; we have published none so far.
Where the figures come from
Almost everything on our catalogue pages is counted by us rather than copied from a neighbour. A channel’s activity comes from our own archive of its public posts; an emoji pack’s reach comes from the same archive, as the number of channels it appears in; a token’s price comes from market sources, with the time of the snapshot stated. Where a figure is someone else’s, their name and the date sit under it.
What we do not do is print a judgement in place of a number. “Popular” and “best” are opinions; “in 1,270 channels” is a fact. The catalogue prints the second.
How the words are written
Articles and analysis are written by people, and each carries a byline linking to the author’s page. Catalogue descriptions — thousands of short paragraphs — are drafted by a language model from evidence we collected ourselves: the text on the project’s own site, a bot’s own description, its own posts. The model is never shown the publisher’s paragraph, so it cannot paraphrase it, and its draft is checked against rules: no figures the page already prints live, no praise.
Such a paragraph stays a draft until a person has read it. We think it is fairer to say so than to pass a machine’s text off as an editor’s.
Translations
The site is published in Russian and English, and some material travels into nine more languages. A model does the translating, and it translates only our own text: a machine translation of somebody else’s paragraph is a page that belongs to nobody, and we do not publish those.
Errors and corrections
We get things wrong. If you find an error — in a figure, in a link between projects, in a description — write to us: @vitalii, @volodya. A factual correction is handled before anything else.
We do not rewrite a corrected page in silence. Where a correction changed the meaning of an article, a “What changed” line at the end gives the date and says what was wrong, and that correction moves the piece’s modified date too. Catalogue cards keep no such log, but where we know when their text was written, the page states it. Deleting a page instead of correcting it is not a correction.
Right of reply
If we have written about your project and you believe we got it wrong, write to the same contacts. We will bring the page in line with the facts or explain what our statement rests on. Removing accurate information because the subject asked is not a correction, and we do not do it.
What we do not publish
Private individuals’ personal data, or anything we learned from private correspondence. Paid links without a label. Price forecasts and advice on what to buy — the disclaimer says why.
