On September 20, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK) General Missile Bureau “successfully conducted a test of the latest weaponry of critical importance to the development of weapons systems technology.”The test involved the Hwasongpho-11Ma-1 hypersonic missile system, a new modification of the already known Hwasongpho-11Ma, which uses the Hwasong-11Ma missile.The program has progressed from various experimental missiles to several systems that have been introduced into service, with some even participating in military exercises in 2026.The new Hwasongpho-11Ma-1 differs from its predecessor not only in the missile itself, but also in its new launcher.
