Apparently a sniper duel filmed by a Ukrainian soldier. The Russian shoots first and misses, then the Ukrainian misses too. The Ukrainian’s second shot hits.The distance is given as 1240 meters, though those numbers do get exaggerated sometimes. EOTech announced a Counter Unmanned Aircraft Sight / CUAS. Basically, a sight for shooting FPVs. The reticle (pic 1) has lead marks for a drone crossing your line of sight at a set speed. What you’re supposed to do if the drone is coming in at a different angle or speed isn’t clear.This also brings SMASH (pic 2, 3) to mind, which can calculate lead on a drone in real time. During the fighting in Gaza there was a lot of talk about why Hamas never managed to cause a drone disaster for the Israeli army. A lot of people said these sights were the reason. But Hezbollah drone attacks still had quite a bit of success, so maybe Hamas was just too poor.I really don’t get why these aren’t widely used in Ukraine (or at least copied).

Russian soldier wearing a captured Ukrainian Border Guard chest rig. Never seen a review of this one.Back in early 2022, Russians used a lot of captured Ukrainian gear because Ratnik had some pretty obvious shortcomings. Mostly Talan winter boots (GOAT), fleece jackets (Ratnik one was rarely seen in 2022) and Temp3000 helmets (because of the BOA adjustment).

Three-piece groin panels don’t work if the side parts don’t stay over your thighs when you walk.Even experienced soldiers often don’t get that a groin protector has to sit according to your anatomy, same as your plate. Have a friend take a full-body photo of you with the camera around knee height. Since elastic TQs are still widely used only in the Russian army, all the cases like this are Russian. What do you think is the most underrated piece of personal gear for regular infantry, especially among forcibly mobilized?For me, it’s smoke, both defensively and offensively. Varan camouflage is going to become standard issue in the Ukrainian military. The owner has already given the rights to the military.Varan was developed by Prof1Group as a replacement for their older Frog pattern, which had two versions (Savanna Frog and Field Frog). Together with Predator, these four were the main Ukrainian camouflage patterns of the pre-2014 years.My concern now is that once Varan belongs to the military, it could end up like Predator. Predator was also donated by the owners, then turned into Digital Predator (shitty cheap fabric, the switch was driven purely by corruption, more on that in this video), while the original Predator was banned. Both are still used though, because laws in Ukraine are not always enforced.It also looks like the plan to widely adopt Multicam as MM-25 didn’t work out because Crye Precision didn't want to donate it too lmao.
