Frequently asked questions
- Where do the prices on this page come from?
- From Telegram's own server data: the platform hands the app its Premium subscription options and Stars packages with prices attached, and the TON and Stars rates live in its server config. We read that data directly and refresh the page automatically, with nothing copied by hand.
- Why are Stars cheaper on Fragment than in the app?
- An in-app purchase runs through Apple's or Google's store, and their cut is built into the price. On fragment.com Stars are sold directly for crypto at the rate Telegram publishes in its config — both prices are in the table above. When the store price is not in dollars, the percentage is computed via the ECB reference rate.
- What is Telegram's TON rate and how is it different from the exchange rate?
- It is the rate the platform itself uses to convert TON to dollars inside its products — gifts, payouts and the ads platform. It tracks the market, but it is Telegram's own internal value, so at any given second it can differ from the exchange price.
- Why is the Stars payout rate lower than the purchase rate?
- They are two different rates in Telegram's config: one is what the platform sells Stars at, the other is what it pays creators and developers when they withdraw earnings. The gap between them is the platform's share, and both figures are shown above.
