MoD signs Rs 811 crore contract with BDL for 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapons for IAF. Indigenously designed and developed by DRDO, the system will have an indigenous content of 60% along with indigenous of sub-systems like Initial Measurement Unit, Long Impact Delay Fuse and Twin Store Carrier to further boost Aatmanirbharta in defence.The delivery of SAT-SAAW is scheduled between 2027-2028 and 2028-2029.SAT-SAAW is not an entirely new weapon separate from SAAW. It is the satellite-guided configuration of the DRDO-developed Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon (SAAW) family.SAAW has been developed with different guidance configurations, including satellite navigation and electro-optical/IIR-based guidance. The newly contracted SAT-SAAW specifically refers to the satellite-guided variant. So, while the overall weapon family and role remain broadly the same, the key difference is the guidance configuration used for precision targeting.

Report- Hamirpur Government Polytechnic student Sarvesh Sharma has secured a Rs 3.5-crore Ministry of Defence grant to develop the ‘Rudra Edge T-1 (Spectra)’ drone for the Indian Army. The drone is being designed for border surveillance, with capabilities to evade enemy radar detection and resist jamming attempts. Sharma, who previously built a prototype for Rs 87,000, will develop the advanced drone at an IIT Roorkee incubation centre under the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) and iDEX programme.Defence Squad

Responding to ANI's question about the LCA Mark 1A, Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit says,"HAL has already clarified the matter, and I would like to add that, initially, the delay was on the engine side. We could not get enough engines. Now we have received the engines and have installed them on the aircraft. We are currently conducting proper and thorough testing before the aircraft is officially inducted. There are only two or three technical points left to be proven, and I think within a month or two, we should be able to overcome those technical issues. Thereafter, the road will be clear for the aircraft to be inducted. We are also eagerly awaiting the induction of the LCA Mark 1A."

The F-35 is coming to India but this time, it’s not for an air show.The US Air Force is expected to deploy its 2 to 3 F-35 Lightning II for Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, from 26 September to 12 October. And there is a major distinction:This would be the F-35’s first participation in a military exercise on Indian soil.The aircraft has previously visited India for Aero India, but Tarang Shakti would bring it into an actual operational training environment.The F-35 is expected to train alongside aircraft such as the Indian Air Force’s Rafale and Su-30MKI, while France is expected to field Rafales and the UAE its F-16s.For aviation enthusiasts, the biggest question will be:How will the F-35’s low-observable design, sensors and network-centric capabilities interact with India’s Rafale, Su-30MKI, AEW&C and air-refuelling platforms in a multinational exercise?
