Since the conflict began in late February, U.S. retail diesel prices have crossed the $6-per-gallon mark for the first time, reaching an average of $6.52 per gallon on September 23, up from $3.69 a year earlier — a 76% increase. The war has sharply reduced diesel exports from the Persian Gulf, particularly from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, while Russian exports have also been constrained by Ukrainian attacks on refineries.
