Unless you’ve been under a rock you’ve probably seen the rumor of an October 1st independent trucker strike. This video makes a very good case for it being a fabrication.Truckers pick their shipments up off of something called a load board. Someone lists a load to be transported, the trucker with the winning bid goes and gets it. The cost of shipping organically adjusts upward when truckers need more money to move the load at a profit.So, if truckers are losing their ass it isn’t because of fuel prices, it’s because somebody is bidding the loads at a discount to keep their trucks rolling. That, my friends, is how it works every day, not just when diesel gets expensive.Some owner/operators will park their trucks and drive for Uber until things get better.
