In its application to register .gram, Telegram described an example of how the domain zone might work:

• Telegram Premium subscribers will be able to obtain a domain of the form username.gram through a separate process • There may be an auction for channels, chats, and bots, similar to the current system on Fragment • A domain can be redirected to a profile or any other link • Registration will be open to everyone, not just Telegram users • This is not a commitment, and Telegram is under no obligation to implement everything exactly this way

The Link Freedom Group is also bidding for the .gram domain. Until October 21, each party may switch to an alternative option; for Telegram, this is .telegram. If both applications remain, the domain will be auctioned off by ICANN, with bidding expected in the fall of 2027.
