The other day I was reading my friend's blog — Alexey Fyodorov's. He recently had a sponsored collab with Ksenia Sobchak.Lyosha, the owner of one of my favorite Russian brands Magssory, whom I met like 8 years ago I think — he was one of my clients. These days we're both members of the same private club for entrepreneurs and investors.I liked the idea that there's no point in doing business unless your goal is to build a global company, go public with an IPO. Build a global brand that will live for decades. I loved one line: "Nothing holds you back in life more than yourself."And the right, good circle of people plus good ideas can cut your path to results by several times. As you know, crypto exchanges — driven by their desire to operate on Western markets — are definitively pulling out of the country run by Putin, in order to obtain European MiCA licenses. For European regulators, this is a classic demonstration of compliance with that requirement for obtaining a MiCA license. I think you remember that I wrote about this back in October 2022.🇪🇺 A number of crypto exchanges, such as Binance, KuCoin, Bitget, MEXC, HTX and others have already left the market — the one controlled by the United Russia party. And if you haven't yet withdrawn your funds from these exchanges, it's recommended to do so before your accounts get shut down.But don't be upset if you haven't managed to stash away enough cash over the past years to leave Moscow and relocate to Western Europe, Dubai, or the US. Around $6.3 billion was stolen from CZ's exchange.According to preliminary data, North Korean hackers breached the infrastructure through a DevOps engineer's laptop and gained access to an internal container used for withdrawals. To attack one of the hot Ethereum wallets, they used the EIP-7702 mechanism.In a single transaction, they drained ~167k ETH and 63 tokens, including 1.615 billion USDT. Tether and Circle have already frozen the stolen stablecoins.Binance will recover quickly, even though the situation itself is unpleasant. The only thing I can add is that with the advancement of AI, incidents like this are going to become more frequent. I've always found it amazing — I have so many friends who run businesses in unconventional niches, have teams of literally three people, make millions of dollars, and spend a couple of hours a day working on a computer or phone. And in their niche there's zero competition, none whatsoever. Everyone knows each other by heart, yet the market is beautiful in terms of revenue.But at the same time, there are literally millions of marketplace sellers and just as many bloggers who, like freelancers, make ten grand a month max, if that, buried so deep in operations you'd think they held a key position in government corruption or at a bank.People are amazing creatures — how alike we are, and how different our brains and thought processes are.
