Only a collectible gift can be sold — an upgraded one, with its own number and a t.me/nft/… link. Inside Telegram, it is listed on the gift marketplace for Telegram Stars or GRAM. The seller receives 80% of the price in Telegram Stars or 90% of the price in GRAM; Telegram retains the rest. Outside, gifts are sold on Fragment, Getgems, Portals, MRKT, and Tonnel, each with their own commissions. Figures as of September 26, 2026.
What Can Be Sold
A collectible gift can be sold. A regular one cannot: it can be exchanged for Telegram Stars within the first 7 days or upgraded first. Upgrading is available for limited edition gifts. Out of 140 limited edition gifts in the showcase, 118 can be upgraded, and for 89 of them, the upgrade costs 25 Telegram Stars.
How to List a Gift in Telegram
- Open your profile, the "Gifts" tab, and select the desired gift.
- Tap “Sell”.
- Set a price in Telegram Stars or GRAM.
The gift will appear on the marketplace, and in your profile, it will be marked "For Sale". You can remove it from sale at any time.
A buyer can also make an offer — in Telegram Stars or GRAM — for a gift you haven't listed. The offer arrives as a message. The buyer's funds are reserved for the duration of the offer, and if you accept, the transaction goes through immediately.
How Much the Seller Receives
The seller's share and price limits are set in Telegram's client parameters:

For a gift sold for 1,000 Telegram Stars, you will receive 800 Telegram Stars. For a gift sold for 100 GRAM, you will receive 90 GRAM.
Some gifts can only be sold for GRAM: for these, you cannot set a price in Telegram Stars.
When a Gift Cannot Be Sold
A gift may have a date before which it cannot be listed (can_resell_at in the API). The app displays this date on the gift itself. Such a date applies, for example, to newly purchased gifts: for those bought with Telegram Stars, it occurs after 21 days.
A gift that is on an external platform or has been withdrawn to the blockchain cannot be sold on the Telegram marketplace until it is returned to Telegram.
Where the Funds Go
Telegram Stars are credited to your Telegram Stars balance. They can be used to buy other gifts, upgrades, subscriptions, and everything else sold for Telegram Stars within Telegram.
GRAM are credited to the Gram balance within Telegram itself — the one topped up via Fragment.
Can Telegram Stars from sales be withdrawn?
Telegram Stars from gift exchanges and paid messages are subject to author terms and can be withdrawn via Fragment no earlier than 21 days, from 1,000 Telegram Stars, at $0.013 per Star. For Telegram Stars received from selling a gift on the marketplace, there is no separate rule in Telegram's terms. Telegram Stars purchased with money cannot be withdrawn.
Selling on Other Platforms
A collectible gift can also be sold outside Telegram. Platforms operate in two ways:
- the gift is transferred to the platform's service account, and then sold within it, without going to the blockchain;
- the gift is withdrawn to the TON blockchain as an NFT and sold on an NFT marketplace.

All transactions on these platforms are settled in GRAM.
Two things to know before sending:
- Do not send a regular gift to a platform. Platforms only accept collectible gifts; a regular one will be lost if sent.
- Verify the platform's account. After sending a gift to Portals, MRKT, Getgems, or Tonnel, Telegram sends a list of that platform's official accounts. Any other accounts messaging you on their behalf are scammers. No platform will ask for your password or login code.
