Nearly a decade after Telegram’s initial plans to launch its own blockchain — through waves of popularity, legal battles with the SEC and national regulators over free speech — Telegram is releasing its non-custodial wallet, embedded directly into the messenger’s interface.

The Cryptobillion
The wallet is named Gram Wallet, in honor of TON’s native token, recently renamed following a community-driven vote initiated by Telegram’s team.
Perks for the Cryptobillion
From a promotional video released by Telegram’s CEO, it’s known that Gram Wallet will feature:
- The wallet can be opened from the attach menu (paperclip icon) in any chat.
- 5 free transactions daily — beyond that, users pay the network’s base fee, which is already negligible compared to transaction sizes.
- Ability to buy cryptocurrency using a bank card.
- A P2P marketplace for selling crypto.
Keep in mind, however, that this is just a promotional video: it may showcase conceptual ideas that don’t always make it into the final app functionality.
Development Team
The wallet was developed by the My Wallet team, creators and maintainers of the open-source non-custodial wallet MyTonWallet since 2023, later integrating over a dozen other networks and rebranding the wallet as My Wallet.

Despite working across other ecosystems, this represents a positive signal for TON. From 2022 to 2024, solutions like WalletConnect were the only options available for projects interacting with EVM blockchains and other networks. Now, such integration becomes native to the ecosystem, helping retain user attention within TON and Telegram. That said, WalletConnect itself has now begun supporting TON — suggesting it may be more interested in incorporating this ecosystem into its protocol.
Anatoly Makosov, co-founder of TON Core and the broader TON network, has frequently supported the My Wallet team through public posts and cited them as a benchmark for quality wallets. Now, the team’s developments are being adopted by Telegram via official channels, while a dedicated app, Gram Wallet, has been launched for TON — allowing users who don’t want to interact with Solana or EVM to stay within the TON ecosystem.
How to Get Gram Wallet
Following Pavel Durov’s announcement on August 31 about the wallet’s readiness, Telegram began gradually expanding access, starting with a limited test group. As of now, 1 183 wallets with the Telegram Wallet smart contract code are registered on the network.
The fastest way to gain access, according to the My Wallet team, is to download the standalone Gram Wallet app for iOS or Android from app stores — or use the official website.
Engine from TON Core
The cross-platform engine powering the wallet across all devices — a Rust-based core with bindings for iOS, Android, web, and C++ — is being developed by TON Core, the core team behind TON’s development and maintenance. This marks a precedent for TON Core working on similar functionality: previously, the main contributor to cross-platform wallet solutions on TON was studio TON Tech, creator of the TON Connect protocol and part of The Open Platform venture fund.
Future Development
In his announcement, Pavel Durov thanked validators for including the Gram Wallet smart contract in the blockchain’s root logic — simplifying future technical upgrades without requiring additional migrations.
For now, we continue to await broader access to Gram Wallet, increased user adoption on TON, and the next steps in the MTONGA roadmap. Follow @gramnews on Telegram and bookmark gramnews.org to be among the first to see updates on Gram Wallet and its surrounding ecosystem.
